Communicate

Officers should be able to communicate with all the people they serve. Officers will receive materials and instruction which will allow them to communicate with the Latino community IMMEDIATELY after the training session. Even if Officers have not memorized all the words necessary, the tools they receive will allow the Officer to get the information they need in a safe and cooperative manner.

Officers will learn words during the training that will assist them in memorizing and pronouncing the Spanish words they need to communicate with the Latino community. We will teach them ongoing methods to help them memorize the Spanish words they learn. After Street Cop Spanish training, Officers will be able to communicate effectively during Traffic Stops, Terry Stops, and OWI Traffic Stops.
